Travel Journal – Camping Summer 2023
It seems to be a trend that I only finish up my travel journal for last trip when I’m about to go on a new trip… We did some camping trips north of Vancouver, BC last summer, lots of picturesque scenery everywhere we look!
Mythical Creatures
Last year, I did a series of Owl species facts cards for my daughter’s advent calendar that she loved. This year, I’ve attempted a more difficult one, mythical creatures (common ones, yet she doesn’t already know so well). Even after I recruited my husband’s help to do some of the sketches, still only barely finished it all. But it was quite fun for me still, as myths and fantasies have always a big inspiration for my art 🙂

Watercolor Owl Facts cards
Another advent calendar project for my daughter!
It took some time for research and illustrate all 19 species of owls in North America in watercolor. But it was a very educational both for me and for my daughter who was obsessed with owls.

Inktober 2021 – Chinese mythical creatures
I was trying to do another set of inktober sketches. However, had to give up half way through the month, because of, well, life…. ^^;; Parents don’t get a lot of “me” time, I was lucky to get as much done as I did
Anyhow I started the sketches of Chinese mythical creatures mostly based on the book 山海經 Shanhai jing (The Classic of Mountains and Seas, a Chinese classic text and a compilation of mythic geography and beasts.) It was fun, but quite a bit searching for references and quite time consuming
